Possibility in the afternoon to go to the hot springs (20 soles/person) depending on the arrival time of your train. Dinner and overnight in Aguas Calientes.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
The next morning, around 5:30 am, we will take one of the first tour buses to Machu Picchu to enjoy the unforgettable discovery of the site at sunrise. It is with your guide and for 3 hours that you will discover the treasures of Machu Picchu. Among all the wonders are the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sundial, the Royal Apartments, and the Temple of the Three Windows, among others. So many opportunities to learn more about the Inca way of life, their beliefs, their cults and their religious ceremonies.
The discovery of Machu Picchu is subject to visiting circuits, designed by the Ministry of Culture, which visitors must scrupulously respect. When booking, we prefer the 2 tours that offer the opportunity to discover Machu Picchu as a whole.
After the tour to get to Aguas Calientes, there are shuttle buses that leave every 15 minutes. In the afternoon, you will take the train to the town of Ollantaytambo. The journey takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. You must be at the station 30 minutes before the train’s departure. Departure time may vary depending on the number of seats available at the time of booking. Then, the drive from Ollantaytambo to Cusco takes you in one of our vehicles to your hotel location.
If you opt for the ascent to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu de Montana (optional visit), here are some important recommendations:
- Tickets for these climbs must be purchased in advance, at the time of booking the tour (please note that the number of places is limited).
- To climb them, you have to pay an extra $16 and book the entrance to the site at the same time you pay for your entire reservation.
- The climb to Huayna Picchu is very steep, people who suffer from vertigo and are prone to discomfort should of course avoid this route.
- If you choose to climb Machu Picchu Mountain, it takes 1h30 to climb. Please note that Machu Picchu Mountain is higher than Huayna Picchu
- Finally, when opting for these climbs, the Ministry of Culture assigns you a small tour of Machu Picchu, which only crosses the site, which does not allow you to make a complete visit of the site.
