Itinerary
Day 1: From Cusco to Moray Salt Mines Maras
Join us for a captivating half-day tour! We will collect you from your hotel at approximately 8:30 AM and journey to Chinchero. At a local weaving workshop, you will witness the Quechua textile tradition come to life, learning how natural plant dyes are used to create intricate patterns. Feel free to try on Andean clothing for some unique photos!
Next, we head to Moray. This fascinating archaeological site features unique circular terraces, often described as an agricultural laboratory of the Incas. Here, they ingeniously created diverse microclimates within the different levels, allowing them to experiment with and cultivate a wide variety of crops at high altitudes. Witness firsthand the advanced agricultural knowledge of the Incas.
Our journey continues to the captivating Maras Salt Mines. En route, we will pass through the charming colonial village of Maras, notable for its well-preserved architectural beauty and fine stone buildings. The salt mines themselves are a stunning spectacle, consisting of thousands of individual salt pans. This ancient tradition continues today, providing salt for markets across the region.
Finally, we will return to Cusco around 2:30 PM.
